Handyman's Toolbox basics When owning a home, it seems that the smallest things could always use a little sprucing up. New light fixtures need to be changed out and replaced, light bulbs need to be replaced, or even door knobs and locks need to be replaced. How to Remove and Replace Grout

Monday, 18 January 2010 07:32

With a upgrade or change of grout can so often make a room look new. Such attention to detail can so often be the answer.

Cut the Grout

For small areas, use a grout removal tool with a carbide blade. The blade is harder than the grout and will cut it away. For much larger areas, use a rotary tool. Make sure the bit is the right size for the space between the tiles, and adjust the bit to the proper depth.

Work slowly. If the dust is a different colour than the grout, you may be hitting your tile -- stay to the center to avoid damage.
